The Five Energy Types
How you’re built to move through the world — and why no two people are quite the same

What if you already knew how you worked?
Most of us spend years trying to figure out why we feel the way we feel — why some days we have endless energy and other days we need to be completely alone. Why some people seem to just go while others need to wait and be invited. Why you might feel totally different from your best friend, your sibling, or even your parent.
Human Design says it’s not an accident. You were born with a specific energy blueprint — a design for how your life force moves through you, how you’re meant to act, and how you naturally connect with the world.
That blueprint starts with your Energy Type.

The Five Energy Types
In Human Design, every person on earth falls into one of five energy types. Each type has a different way of generating energy, making decisions, and finding their place in the world. Read through all five slowly — with curiosity, not judgment.
Generators are the builders of the world. They have a steady, renewable life-force energy that literally lights up when they’re doing something they love. A Generator’s superpower is their gut response — a deep “yes” or “no” that lives in the body before the mind even gets involved. When a Generator is doing work that lights them up, they can go for hours and feel more energized, not less.
Manifesting Generators are multi-passionate, fast-moving, and built to do things their own way — even if that means skipping steps. They have Generator energy underneath with a Manifestor spark on top. They’re often called “too much” or “scattered” — but really they’re just designed to move fast, pivot often, and follow what excites them. They may love ten things at once. That’s not a flaw. That’s the design.
Projectors are the guides, the seers, the ones who understand systems and people on a deep level. They don’t have the same consistent energy as Generators, which means they need more rest — and that’s not laziness, that’s wisdom. Projectors are at their best when they’re invited into things: conversations, projects, relationships. That invitation isn’t just politeness — it’s energetically how they’re designed to enter situations successfully.
Manifestors are rare and powerful — they’re the only type truly designed to initiate. They have a direct connection between their inner world and outer action, which means they can create impact that others can’t. The catch? People around them often feel startled or left out when a Manifestor just moves. Their strategy is to inform — not ask for permission, just let people know what’s coming — and that small act changes everything.
Reflectors are the rarest and most magical of all types. They have no defined centers at all — which means they’re designed to take in and reflect the world around them like a mirror. They’re deeply sensitive to their environment: the right place, the right people, the right community makes everything better. Reflectors need a full lunar cycle (about 28 days) to make big decisions — their wisdom comes from letting things settle over time.

What this means for you
Here’s something important: most people were never taught this. They were told to push harder when they were tired, to initiate when they were meant to wait, to slow down when they were built to move fast. Knowing your type doesn’t just explain the past — it gives you a map for the future.
You don’t have to be like anyone else. You were never supposed to be.

- Go to mybodygraph.com or jovianarchive.com
- Enter your birth date, exact birth time, and birth location
- Find your Energy Type on the chart — it will say Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Manifestor, or Reflector
- Both parent and child should pull their charts
- Write your types in your journal — we’ll work with them throughout this entire module
A note for the parent
If your child immediately identifies with one type before knowing their official design, honor that. The resonance often comes before the confirmation. Human Design is a tool for self-recognition — not a box to put anyone in.
If your child is a Reflector or Projector, this lesson may feel especially significant. These types are often the most misunderstood in traditional school environments — too sensitive, not enough energy, waiting when others want them to go. This course is a chance to reframe all of that.
Take your time. There’s no rush. The magic is in the noticing.
